Brent A. Cochran
Brent has nearly 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. After attaining his MBA, Brent began his financial career by training in New York. From there, he spent time in San Francisco where he has worked for some of the most prominent investment firms in the world, including Kidder, Peabody, J.P. Morgan and most recently Goldman Sachs' where he was a Vice President in the Private Client Group.
He left Goldman Sachs in January of 2003 so that he could become completely independent in the advice and service he provides his clients. He is currently a Senior Vice President with Investment Management Consultants in Salt Lake City, and has been recognized as part of the Circle of Excellence* within Cambridge Investment Research.
He currently serves on the advisory board of a private equity fund for Keystone National Group. Keystone National is a San Francisco based advisory firm and fund manager that focuses on alternative investments, due diligence, and fund management and selection services.
Brent believes in an active approach to managing his clients' assets. Some investors have seen their assets diminish significantly over the last decade, and have experienced portfolio loses of 30%, 40% or even 50%—more than once. Many in the financial industry advocate a buy-and-hold-at-all-cost approach which he believes is a recipe for failure in a long term bear market. In contrast, he is a proponent of active, tactical strategies that have the potential for success in bear or bull markets, rather than relying on an approach that only does well in up markets.
Brent graduated Cum Laude and later earned his MBA with an emphasis in Investment Management, from Brigham Young University. Brent has a strong background as an independent financial advisor and is committed to adding value to his clients across all market environments.
